This Privacy Policy explains how TEDxUnityPark ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our website, buy a ticket, apply to speak, inquire about partnership, subscribe to our updates, or interact with our ads on social media. TEDxUnityPark is an independently organized TED event operated under license from TED.

Information we collect

We collect information you give us directly, including: Contact details such as your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number. Organization or company name when you inquire about partnership or sponsorship. The content of applications, messages, and form responses you submit (for example, a speaker idea or a partnership interest). Ticket and order information processed through our ticketing provider, including any optional information you choose to provide during registration. We also collect certain information automatically when you use our website or view our ads, including device and browser type, IP address, pages viewed, and similar usage data gathered through cookies and tracking technologies.

How we use your information

To respond to your inquiries and send you the materials you request, such as a partnership deck or speaker application. To process tickets and communicate event details, updates, and reminders. To send you news, announcements, and marketing about TEDxUnityPark, which you can opt out of at any time. To measure, operate, and improve our website, events, and advertising. To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and our community. We use your information only for the purposes we describe to you at the time we collect it.

Event partners and sponsors

Our events are supported by partners and sponsors. We do not give a partner or sponsor access to your personal information unless you expressly ask us to.

Where we offer this, it appears at the point of registration as a clearly labeled, unchecked box that you may accept or decline. Declining never affects your ability to buy a ticket or attend, and it never changes what you pay. If you leave the box unchecked, your information is not shared.

If you check the box, we share only the information described in that notice, which is limited to contact details such as your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number. We do not share sensitive information of any kind. We do not collect or share information about whether you are a member of, or interested in, any partner organization.

Once you opt in, the partner receives your information as an independent controller. That means the partner decides how it uses your information under its own privacy policy, and any communications it sends you are managed by the partner rather than by us. To stop hearing from a partner, use the unsubscribe link in that partner's emails or contact the partner directly.

We keep a record of your opt-in choice for at least one year.

Lead forms and social media advertising

We run ads on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram) and other services. When you submit a lead form through one of our ads, the platform shares the information you provided with us so we can follow up with you. That information is handled under this Policy as well as the platform's own terms and privacy policy. We may also use advertising tools that place cookies or pixels on our website, and we may upload contact information (in hashed form) to platforms such as Meta to create Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences. This helps us reach people who are likely to be interested in our events. We do not sell your personal information.

How we share information

We share information only as needed to operate, including with: Service providers who help us run the event, such as our ticketing platform, email and form tools, and advertising and analytics partners. Event partners and sponsors, but only where you have expressly opted in as described in "Event partners and sponsors" above. TED, as required under our TEDx event license, where applicable. Authorities or others when required by law or to protect rights and safety. We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and tracking

Our website and ads use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, understand traffic, and measure advertising performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling them may affect how parts of the site work.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any message. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. You can opt out of certain ad targeting through your settings on Meta and other platforms.

If you opted in to share your information with an event partner and you change your mind, contact us at team@tedxunitypark.com and we will stop sharing your information going forward. Information we already shared is held by that partner under its own privacy policy, so you should also unsubscribe with the partner directly or contact the partner to have it removed.

We respond to requests about your information promptly, and we will let you know if we need to involve a partner in order to complete your request.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide our services and for legitimate business or legal purposes, after which we delete or anonymize it. Where you have given consent to share your information with an event partner, we retain a record of that consent for at least one year.

Children's privacy

Our website and communications are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated version here.
